Our Community Events

At Foundry Lane Primary School, we believe that education is strongest when schools, families, and the wider community work together. Our community events give parents, carers, families, and local partners the opportunity to celebrate children's achievements, share in their learning, and strengthen the sense of belonging that makes our school so special.

These experiences bring our Golden Rules, Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Your Best, to life by encouraging children to show kindness, confidence, respect, and pride in both themselves and their community.

Throughout the year, we offer a rich programme of events that strengthen relationships between home and school, celebrate learning, and create lasting memories for our children and families.

Learning Together

We actively encourage families to become part of their child's learning journey through events such as:

  • Marvellous Males Breakfast: celebrating the important male role models in our children's lives

  • Wonderful Women Breakfast: recognising and celebrating the inspirational women who support our pupils

  • Come Read With Me sessions, giving families the opportunity to enjoy reading together in school and helping to foster a lifelong love of books

  • Curriculum Showcase sessions, where parents and carers are invited into school to celebrate learning through art galleries, shared reading experiences, and curriculum exhibitions

  • Our annual Book Fair, encouraging reading for pleasure while helping to raise funds for new books and resources for our school

Celebrating Together

Our school community comes together throughout the year to celebrate achievement, creativity, and talent through events including:

  • Foundry Lane's Got Talent, giving every child the confidence to perform and celebrate their individual talents

  • Our annual Spelling Bee, promoting a love of language while encouraging resilience, perseverance, and healthy competition

  • Christmas and Summer School Fetes, organised in partnership with our dedicated Friends Committee, bringing together families and the wider community for fun, fundraising, and celebration

  • Christmas Carol Services and Easter Services, providing opportunities for reflection while celebrating important Christian traditions and bringing our community together

Supporting Our Community

We believe it is important that children understand the value of compassion, service, and helping others. Throughout the year we support a range of local and national charities and community initiatives, helping children understand how even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference.

These include:

  • Children in Need

  • Wear Yellow Day, in support of people living with cystic fibrosis

  • Remembrance Day, including opportunities for reflection and remembrance

  • A range of fundraising events that respond to the needs of our local community and national charities

Celebrating Diversity

Through our programme of Collective Worship, themed days, and curriculum experiences, children learn about and celebrate the rich diversity of our world. We recognise and explore a wide range of religious and cultural festivals throughout the year, promoting understanding, mutual respect, and appreciation of different beliefs, traditions, and cultures.

Building a Strong Community

Our community events are about much more than bringing people together: they help children develop confidence, pride, empathy, and a sense of belonging. By working in partnership with our families, our Friends Committee, local organisations, and the wider community, we create experiences that enrich learning and strengthen the relationships at the heart of our school.

At Foundry Lane, we are proud to be more than just a school. We are a community where children, families, and staff work together to ensure everyone has the opportunity to Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Your Best.
