We value our smart school uniform, as it ensures that all our children feel an equal part of our school community and encourages pupils to feel proud to be part of that community. Wearing a uniform teaches children to be smart and ensures that they are ready to approach their learning with a professional mindset. Pupils are, therefore, expected to wear school uniform whilst they attend our school.

All pupils should wear their uniform when attending school, when representing the school, or when participating in an event organised by the school outside of school hours. Some visits, for example day trips and residential trips, do not require pupils to wear school uniform; this will be at the discretion of the teacher responsible for the visit.

We ask all parents who send their children to Foundry Lane to comply with this policy. Parents are expected to send their children to school dressed correctly, ready for their studies, and to ensure that the uniform is clean and in good repair.

All staff at Foundry Lane will support the School Uniform Policy by promoting and maintaining high expectations with regard to uniform and appearance in lessons.

Please ensure all uniform and equipment is clearly labelled with your child’s name – it makes it so much easier to return lost items to their owners!

When putting together our uniform policy, we have taken great care to ensure we have a mixture of plain clothing as well as branded products, available from more than one retailer, to enable you to source the best value.

We encourage parents and carers to buy plain clothing to save money where possible. Plain clothing that meets our uniform policy is available in many larger local superstores however if you need support and if your child is eligible for free school meals, please speak to the school office team, who will be able to help.

Pre-loved Uniform 

Our Friends of FLPS run a pre-loved shop for school uniforms and coats. If you would like to see what is available, please join the Facebook group. 

What to Bring to School …

Uniform

• - burgundy jumper or cardigan
• - white polo-shirt or shirt
• - black or grey trousers or skirt
• - red checked summer dress
• - black shoes or trainers (no open toes, no backless shoes, no crocs)

PE Kit

• - white T-shirt
• - black shorts or joggers

Children can wear this to school on PE days. No hoodies, please.

Bags

Please only send small bags or bookbags. We don't have enough space for large bags in our classrooms or corridors.

Water Bottles

Water only, please.

What not to bring to school …

Pencil Cases & Personal Stationery

We have everything your child needs in school. Teachers may occasionally give permission for children in Year 5 and Year 6 to bring in their own items as part of a project or to help them ‘be secondary ready’, but no child will be left out if they don't have access.

Trinkets, Personal Possessions (including lip balms) and Toys

No thank you! These can be lost and cause distractions. For some children, teachers may give permission for a 'transition object' to be brought into school for a short period of time.

Mobile Phones, Smart Watches, Cameras and Other Technology

Mobile phones may be sent in with children when they are in Year 5 and Year 6, if absolutely necessary. These must be handed in at the start of the day and will be returned at the end. Cameras and recording equipment are strictly prohibited.
