Parental Support

Family Support and Wellbeing

At Foundry Lane Primary School, we know that children thrive when families feel supported. We believe that strong relationships between home and school are essential, and we are committed to working alongside parents and carers through both the happy moments and the more challenging times.

Our school motto, "Working Together," reflects our belief that staff, parents, and children are a team. Parents are their child's first and most important carers, and no one knows a child better. Our role is to build on that foundation, helping every child grow into a well-rounded young person. We are about more than education alone: we are a community that supports families as much as it teaches children, because we know that bringing up a family is not always straightforward. When we can support the adults in a child's life, that child has a far greater chance of doing well at school.

Our approach is built on trust, compassion, and partnership. We recognise that every family is different, and when life becomes overwhelming, we are here to listen, guide, and help.

A Whole-Family Approach

Our experienced Pastoral Team works closely with children and families, providing practical support, advice, and a listening ear whenever it is needed.

Support may include:

  • - Helping families access the right services and agencies

  • - Signposting to local support organisations

  • - Supporting attendance and wellbeing

  • - Working alongside families during periods of change or crisis

  • - Offering guidance around behaviour, routines, and emotional wellbeing

  • - Helping parents navigate applications and paperwork, including Disability Living                 Allowance (DLA) and other forms of support

  • - Acting as a key point of contact when families simply need someone to help them work     through the next steps

Sometimes families don't need all the answers: they simply need someone who will listen, understand, and help them find a way forward. We are proud to provide that support.

Emotional Support for Children

Our trained support staff provide personalised support for children who may need help managing emotions, building confidence, developing friendships, or coping with change and loss.

Through carefully planned individual or small-group sessions, children develop emotional resilience, communication skills, and strategies that enable them to engage positively with school life.

Working Together with Parents

We believe parents are children's first educators, and we value every opportunity to work in partnership with them.

Throughout the year we offer:

  • - Parent coffee mornings

  • - Information sessions and workshops

  • - Parent training opportunities

  • - Drop-in sessions for advice and support

  • - Opportunities to meet professionals and external agencies

  • - Signposting to local services and community support

These sessions provide a welcoming opportunity for parents and carers to ask questions, share experiences, and access practical advice in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Supporting Every Family

No matter what challenges a family may be facing, our aim is always the same: to remove barriers so that children are happy, safe, and ready to learn.

We understand that sometimes families need a little extra support, whether that's navigating a diagnosis, managing financial pressures, accessing specialist services, or simply having someone to talk things through with. Whatever the situation, we will always do our best to help or connect families with the right support.

Together We Thrive

At Foundry Lane, we pride ourselves on knowing our families well and building genuine relationships based on kindness, trust, and respect. By working together, we ensure that children feel secure, families feel supported, and everyone has the opportunity to flourish.

Because at Foundry Lane, supporting children means supporting the people who matter most to them.
