Library - Year 2 visit the school library on a Tuesday afternoon - Please ensure that children have their bookbags in school.

Homework - Homework will be given out on a Friday. Please make sure that it is returned to school by the following Wednesday to allow time for marking.

In Year 2 children have many different spellings to learn over the course of the year. Some of these words will be topic based, some will be phonics based, and some will be words from the Year 2 Common Word list. It is expected that most children are able to read these words in books and spell them in their writing by the end of Year 2.

Home School Reading

Year 2 have just relaunched Home School Reading. Each child has been send home with a Home School Reading Diary where they can record the books they are reading and make a comment about them.

They could comment on the following:

  • Did they enjoy the book? Why?
  • What was the problem in the story? How was it solved?
  • Who is their favourite character? Why?
  • What is their favourite part of the story? Why?
  • Did they find out any interesting facts?
  • How did the characters feelings change throughout the story? Why?

Now and then we will be having a look in the children's diaries to see what they enjoy reading at home.

For every 10 books they read and comment on they will earn a sticker/ special stamp. It is their responsibility to show us!

Each week the children will have the following homework:

-  spellings

- a reading teak

- a Maths, English or Topic task

Your child's teacher will be seeing if the children can spell these words in their written work.

Homework is expected to be in school by Wednesday each week so that there is time to mark it and give feedback.
