Our vision at Foundry Lane is to provide an ambitious, engaging, and inclusive curriculum for every child. Working in partnership with our school community, we give children exciting experiences that inspire a love of learning, encourage them to think deeply, and help them grow into confident, compassionate citizens of the future, all underpinned by our Golden Rules: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Your Best.

At Foundry Lane Primary School, we believe that every child deserves a curriculum that is ambitious, engaging, and inclusive. We have chosen a range of high-quality, evidence-informed curriculum programmes that provide clear progression in knowledge and skills, while allowing our teachers to deliver learning that is exciting, relevant, and adapted to meet the needs of every child.

Our Learning Journey

Across our curriculum, learning is brought to life through a journey in every project:

• Hooks to Ignite Curiosity. New topics may begin with an engaging hook, designed to spark curiosity and enthusiasm before deeper learning begins.
• Teaching of Skills. Teachers plan memorable, challenging lessons that build the knowledge and skills children need, making meaningful links to the wider topic wherever possible.
• An Outcome to Celebrate. Each project builds towards a meaningful outcome, giving children a genuine sense of purpose and achievement, and an opportunity to share their learning with others.

This structure helps children see the purpose behind what they're learning, deepens their understanding, and gives every topic a clear sense of progress and celebration.

A Knowledge-Rich Foundation Curriculum

Our wider curriculum is delivered through the Cornerstones Curriculum, providing children with engaging, knowledge-rich projects that make meaningful links across subjects while ensuring clear progression in both knowledge and skills.

Children explore history, geography, art, and design technology through exciting enquiries, educational visits, visitors, and practical experiences that bring learning to life and help children make lasting connections.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

We believe that learning should extend beyond the four walls of the classroom.

Outdoor education is an integral part of our curriculum, allowing children to explore, investigate, collaborate, and solve problems in real-life contexts. Educational visits, visitors, workshops, residential experiences, and community projects enrich learning, deepen understanding, and help children make meaningful links between their learning and the wider world.

We are lucky to have wonderful gardens and grounds at Foundry Lane, and we use these to enhance our curriculum and take learning outdoors.
