Compliments & Complaints

We encourage good communication between parents and school. On rare occasions, we may disagree with one another, often as a result of miscommunication on either or both sides. When you feel something isn't right, we urge you to talk to us so that we can try to resolve it together. We hope you never have to make a complaint, but if you do, please follow the information below so that it can be resolved as smoothly as possible.

Sharing a Compliment

We also love to hear when things have gone well! If a member of staff, a class, or the wider school community has made a real difference to your child, please do let us know. Compliments and kind words mean a huge amount to our staff and are shared with them directly, and often celebrated in newsletters, staff meetings, or assemblies too.

You can share a compliment in the same way you'd raise a concern, by speaking to the class teacher, contacting the school office, or emailing us directly, whichever feels easiest for you.

Our aim is always to resolve any issues or concerns that parents or carers may have as quickly and efficiently as possible. To help us do this, and to safeguard the wellbeing of our staff, it's important that parents and carers follow the standards below when contacting the school.

We recognise that the vast majority of parents already comply with these standards, and we thank you for your continued support.

Most issues can usually be resolved informally through a conversation with the class teacher. If not, there are further steps you can take through our escalation process.

1. Class Teacher

Your child's class teacher spends the most time with them and knows them best. They should always be your first point of contact if you have concerns about:

  • - Progress
  • - Curriculum
  • - Transition between year groups
  • - Behaviour
  • - Friendships
  • - Any situation that has happened in class or the playground that you or your child are           unhappy about

After raising your concern with the class teacher, please allow them a reasonable amount of time to investigate and implement any changes before escalating further.

Please call the school office on 02380 774814.

2. Senior Teachers

If you're unhappy with the outcome of your conversation, you can escalate the matter to one of our Senior Teachers. Please call the office on 02380 774814 to book an appointment.

3. Formal Complaint

If you feel the final response from the Senior Teacher is unsatisfactory, you can submit a formal complaint.

Why Can't I Just Speak to the Headteacher?

In our experience, the vast majority of issues are easily resolved by the class teacher, since they spend the most time with your child at school. They should always be your first point of contact for any concerns.
