Year 5 Poetry Workshop

A number of children from Year 5 attended a poetry workshop yesterday and we're excited to share some of the poems they wrote with you. They are all to do with the planet and the community within our planet. Some are meant to share different emotions and feelings. We tried to use metaphors and rhyming couplets.

Can you work out which are supposed to be amusing and which more thought provoking?

 Lazy People

I woke up late and I refused to go to school,

I whacked my head with an extremely heavy tool,

The pain was a hurricane rushing through my soul,

I felt a needle popping in my mole,

I went to McDonalds because I wasn’t bothered to cook.

When I ate, I had a shock,

Because it was extremely hot,

And then I went to sleep in a travel-cot.

The Seven Angel Terrors

My planet is in danger,

The sky is a devil in disguise,

We’ve treated the planet like a stranger,

And told it many lies,

,Our planet. Our Lives. Our Future.

Red Devils

My planet is in danger,

Digging holes, taking souls,

My planet is in danger by devils,

The Red Devils are attacking the shoe shop to steal the shoes,

Anger exploding through me like a blender out of control

The devil was as mad as a bull ready to battle.

There are six red devils trying to destroy the city.

Year 5 worked hard in the Poetry Workshop. Here are some poems they’ve written. They are all to do with the planet and the community within our planet. Some are meant to share different emotions and feelings. We tried to use metaphors and rhyming couplets. Can you work out which are supposed to be amusing and which more thought - provoking?
