Shirley Junior School - Attempted Abduction of a Child

1st May 2018

Dear Parents and Carers

Attempted Abduction

We have been advised by the police that yesterday afternoon, there was an attempted abduction of a child outside of Shirley Junior School.

The description of the individual is:

  • a tall black male, approximately 6ft
  • aged around 30 years old
  • he had patterns shaved into the his hair
  • at the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t shirt, skinny blue jeans and a distinctive gold watch
  • he also had a tattoo

Police are asking for any witnesses to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 592.

We will speaking to the children about “Stranger Danger” in school and would advise that you remind them of the importance of not talking to people they don’t know.

You will see an increased police presence around school over the next few days.  Please do not be alarmed by this, they are there to reassure the general public and ensure everyone’s safety.

In addition to the increased police patrols, a member of school staff will be by each of the entrances to the school morning and afternoon for the next few days.

Yours sincerely
