School Attendance Matters - Every Day Counts
As you know, we place great importance on attendance at Foundry Lane and work with our families to support good attendance in school.
Please take a moment to read Mr Taylor's recent letter to all parents regarding attendance and Leave of Absence requests.
Attendance for most children at Foundry Lane Primary School is good and above 96%. We have noticed that we are increasingly being asked to authorise term time holiday.
Absence during term-time as a result of term-time holidays interrupts continuity of teaching and learning, disrupts the educational progress of individual children and creates disruption in schools. Foundry Lane Primary School is therefore unable to authorise family holidays during term-time.
A child does not have the ‘right’ or ‘entitlement’ to term-time leave for the purposes of an annual family holiday and that term-time leave can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.
Parents have a legal duty to ensure regular and punctual attendance by their child at school.
Holiday during term time is likely to result in the Council taking action in issuing Penalty Notices to both parents.
If your absence is for a wedding, funeral or other circumstances then we will need evidence to support this.
