PE

Welcome to PE 2021-2022

Children at Foundry Lane Primary School are encouraged and given the opportunity to participate to the best of their ability in a wide variety of sports, games and physical activities. It is recognised that children are naturally enthusiastic about movement and we aim to develop this to enable them to become both skilful and creative.

PE lessons are held in the hall, on the various playgrounds or on the playing field. In Key Stage 1, a programme of games, dance and gymnastic activities is planned. In Key Stage 2, the above programme is extended and arranged with the addition of athletics, outdoor and adventurous activities and a course of swimming for Year 6 (2021/22) at a local swimming pool.

A sports day is organised yearly for both key stages. We are particularly proud of the sporting achievements of our pupils; to this end we offer extra-curricular activities to interested children. These are usually held after school and currently include Football, Dance and Multi skills clubs. Saints Football Club and Karate Club have also been offered. In addition, we take the opportunity to enter children for various local sporting activities as they are arranged throughout the year such as league matches and competitive sports.

On this page you will find our curriculum map.  You will also find out about some of the extra-curricular PE that happens within our school.  Mrs Clifford and Mrs Lyon are our PE co-ordinators. If you would ever like to discuss PE with them, or how you could get involved with supporting clubs and sports teams they would love to talk to you!

Gymnastics at Foundry Lane

During the Autumn term, children in year 2 were learning about the 5 key gymnastic shapes. They created their own sequences which had to include a variety of these shapes and different ways of traveling across the floor and apparatus.

Dance at Foundry Lane

Over a period of 5 weeks, the children in Year 2 were learning dance motifs to recreate the story of a Magic Toy shop. Magic had awoken the toys in the shop and they were sad to see that the place was dusty and needed cleaning. After carefully cleaning up the shop with a partner the toys celebrated by having a party before the magic ran out and they fell asleep. Can you spot the characters the children were playing?

We hope you enjoy their performance!
